there is only one grease good enough for Your VW.
Its Moly or Lithium based grease. Its blackish grey & very sticky. Use it in Your wheel bearings & CV joints & You won't have to touch them again for many many years.
Front torsion bar suspensions will last forever with this grease.. It that good.. It even takes out the clicking noise from a CV joint thats on the way out.
Its more expensive than the so called universal chassis greases, but isn't Your VW worth it...
Mine is...

Don't forget to check out the "NEW" Super Beetles forum which now includes ALL Beetles... : at SuperBeetles.Com

While not a greasy solution, http://www.superbeetlesonly.com is also a resource.

The Lithium based Moly grease is the best, as the additives in the grease, takes most of the wear . Otherwise You are just lubricating the moving parts with soap based chassis grease... not good enough for the CV Joints or front torsion bar suspension.. You don't want to be pulling these apart too often... if at all..
If You have a noisy CV Joint [usually dry] by adding Lithium based grease, You can extend its life..
When only the Best will do... for My Beetle...
