Petrol Smell...Strong

Hey, I've got a 69 beetle and i've just had the fuel tank, fuel lines and carb replaced as there were rust issues and leaks in the tank which affected everything else. There is an extremely strong smell of petrol coming from the under the bonnet but there are no leaks in the tank. Anyone know if there is a reason for this or if its just standard? From the fuel cap there is only a small section of solid piping due to the position of the cap and the tank itself.

These are not off the shelf parts that can be aquired from any Vw shop, these are True custom made to order pulleys ONLY available through me.
These pulleys are made of 6061 T6 solid aircraft grade USA Billet aluminium.

We currently have 4 designs that we make. They are BRM Style, Porsche Fuchs style, 2 liter Alloy style, and the Randar style. Were working on the Empi 5 Spoke style as well, but that one wont be out for another couple of months due to our busy schedule.

There is 4 version that we make.
They are available for regular V belt (lower pulley and upper matching pulley cover)
and in Serpentine style (lower pulley, matching top pulley, tensioner,and tensioner mount, and belt).

They are all available in either machined finish ,or fully polished for that extra BLING!
Standard Kit to be used with stock V belt includes, Crank Pulley and Alternator Pulley face cover.

Serpentine Kit to be used with serpentine belt Kit Includes, Crank Pulley, maching alternator pulley, Mounting Bracket, belt, and Belt Tensioner.
Alternator pulley is just like crank pulley just smaller in diameter

feedback on pulleys

Hello everyone me and my buddy have been manufacturing these pulley kits for about a year and some change many people have not seen them since we dont market them so much since we only make these for fun, buddies, ourselves, and now we just began selling them to the public. Let me know what you guys think.
SPECS: made of 6061 billet solid aluminum the kind they use on planes.
Their weight can range from 4 - 7 lbs. and we make a stock v belt kit which comes with a top plate pulley and the crank case pulley. we also make a serpentine version which comes with a top pulley tensioner bracket and bottom pulley. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

lead replacement

hi just joined and have a question. i have bought a 74 bug project which i was told had a reconditioned engine. my problem is that i dont know if it has been reconditioned or not and i dont want to kill the engine by runnin it on unleaded. so can i run it with a lead replacement even if it has been reconditioned to run on unleaded? any advise would be a help. cheers

VW body again

Hi again, and my apologies for posting 2 threads in a row, but now that I've got the '74, I just need to know if I can run it inside an enclosed trailer with an internal width of 5' 1.75". From any dimensions I can find, it looks like it'll be a pretty tight squeeze, but I need to know if it's at all possible.

oil for the winter

This may be a stupid question, but I'm going to do an oil change in my '73 Beetle and am wondering what is the best type of oil for the winter. We don't have terribly cold winters, I live near Vancouver, BC, but sometimes it can get down in the '15 range. I do a lot of short trips, if that makes a different. Thanks!

78 VW Coil Question

I replaced the coil on my 78 beetle. I'm confused with one of the wires on the positive side. There appears to be 3 wires that are supposed to be on the positive side. One comes from or to the distributor, one to or from the choke and then there was one hooked to it that didn't go anywhere. It was tucked behind the carb. Does it go anywhere or was it an old wire that went to the distributor at some time? Any help would be great. THANKS

1974 VW Thing in Iowa

This is a 1974 VW Thing with a clear title.... it is in need of some work. I have a soft top frame (needs work) and 2 new full size floor pans that will go with the thing. It has some rust on the body, not to bad, but the floors are shot under the drivers seat and under the battery tray.. I also have a tow bar mounted to the front so it can be towed home...

2800.00 firm ... I know that with a little hard work and determination, it wont take much to get this thing up and running.

Beetle Body Swap

Hi, I'm new to this forum, so please tell me if I'm breaking any rules here.

I'm in the process of restoring my '74 bug, have the chassis, engine and tranny all done, now comes the body which has been corroded thoroughly by 20 years of Canadian winters. Someone nearby has a '84 Brazilian beetle with a rusted out chassis but good body right down to the heater channels. Is it possible to swap his body to a '74 chassis? Is the $1000 CDN he's asking a fair price for the whole beetle? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

trans removal

I'm just wondering if anyone know about how long it takes to pull a swing axle trans out of a 67 bug. we have a customer at work that needs his replaced and i can't find the labor time for it anywhere so it's kind of hard to give him a quote on it.
